Arsenal reaction
Vladimir Weiss:“We have been frustrating everyone, not least ourselves, because we have let good opportunities slip but the manner of the victory over Arsenal was impressive. We managed the game well once we went in front,” he stressed.
“We are working hard to drive the club forward and we want to be successful over a long period of time. The first step in that is to make sure we are a team that is consistent in performances and results. We are showing progress.
“The level of performance in the quarter final was excellent from front to back. We were never going to be denied tonight we had a strong mentality and a determination about us and we got the job done comfortably in the end. We stood up to the challenge.
“The three goals were all great. Carlos created something himself and Shaun’s goal capped an outstanding performance. He was back to what we know he can be. He has been a bit frustrated but he was outstanding.”
Kolo Toure:"I enjoy every minute on the pitch and when I get the chance I want to impress the manager and the fans. It's the fourth time I have played for the first time, and it was nice to score at last.
"We played really well, it was a tough game until we were 2-0 up. I was not expecting to come on, but after our second the pace of the game dropped a bit and I got my chance.
"We needed a win, and this was a perfect game for us. Arsenal are a good side and this is going to help us a lot going into the Chelsea game."
"Both (Tevez and Wright-Phillips') goals are fantastic and that gave us the belief to play in our way, and it's really important to get back to winning after seven draws.Shaun Wright-Phillips:
"We now have a big game against Chelsea (in the league). We have been really unlucky with late goals but tonight we kept a clean sheet which is really good for our season."
Arsene Wenger:"We played very well as a team, we did exactly what the boss wanted us to do and we got the result we needed.
"The boss said we got a trigger from the front two men. They set the standard for us so we just had to carry on doing what they did."
"I do not consider that if you win the Carling Cup you will be going on a trophy parade, it is a competition for our younger players. If I don't play them here where would I play them?"We played in the quarter-final of the Champions League last season against top teams. Playing in those matches is 10 times harder than playing in the Carling Cup."

No sour grapes from Arsene Whinger then? He has as much charm and style as bacon face.
Great performance last night - albeit against a young(ish) Arsenal side.
Thought we were unlucky to drawing at half time as we should have gone in 2-0 up. However, our real test will be on Saturday against what appears to be the best team in the land at the moment. The fact that they lost last night could backfire on us - I hope not!
I have not like Hughes from the beginning, but to give the guy his due, he seems to have got it right last night and I was relatively pleased with his substitutions. I do believe he should have taken Adebayor off towards the end though and given someone else a run out.
Semi-final opponents? Well - I would rather have played them in the final to be honest and if we beat them over 2 legs then we deserve to be there. I pray that we do.
Cmon City!!!!!!!!!!

Rather surprised at Wenger's comments. I'm aware that he and Hughes have some bad blood going back to Hughes' time at Rovers but some of Arsene's comments are beyond petty. If he doesn't hold the Carling Cup in high esteem that's his choice but some of his comments border on being disrespectful to both the tournament and the City supporters. Maybe he should ask his own supporters if they'd welcome the Carling Cup trophy paraded through Highbury and Islington. Sour grapes indeeed from a man and manager I normally hold in high regard .
