Ball signs new deal

Manchester City have confirmed defender Michael Ball has
signed a new two-year deal with the Blues. The former Everton and Rangers
left-back impressed after joining on a short-term deal from Dutch club PSV
Eindhoven in January.
(Sven-Goran) Eriksson told the club's website:
"Michael's experienced, having played in Scotland and Holland as well as
England, and it's good that he is staying with us as he's going to be very
"We had to build on what was good here, and there was a lot that was
really good, so I'm happy that he's signed and he is happy as well."

A sensible move and although Nicky Weaver moved on after Eriksson's arrival, it would have been a surprise had Ball been allowed to walk - particularly after his impressive performances since January, but also given that Eriksson had selected him during his time in charge of England.

Although not a 'new' signing as such, the move should mean that defensive reinforcements are not as urgent, and more of a priority can be put on areas that are clearly in need of strengthening.

vote it up!

How could we have let the guy who tripped onto Ronaldo go? I think Michael Ball (in combination with the rest of our superb defense) saved us from relegation last season. This season it's going to totally different. We want Michael and Nedum charging up the touchline interchanging passes with whoever we get on the wings.

Oh this is much better!
