Elano hints at Inter talks
"There are ongoing negotiations and I hope the Inter directors will go right to the end," he told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I want to wear the Inter shirt.">>MEN.
Despite his impressive finish to last season, you do wonder what future Elano has at the club, and given the arrival of Gareth Barry this could well limit his opportunities further.
There is no doubting his talent, but will he ever fully earn Mark Hughes's favour and can he again display the level of performance and consistency he showed over the first half of his debut season? Perhaps a move to Serie A, a league where the pace and intensity is slower than Premier League, could suit his talents more.
His comments don't overly suggest an imminent deal is in place, but it would not be a huge surprise if he was playing elsewhere next season.

Elano is exactly the kind of player we should hang on to if our ambitions to break in to the top four are ever to be realised. His pass completion stats are phenomenal, and he's worth keeping for his free kicks and penalties alone.
We saw him at his best under Sven, and he regained that form early in the season until he was dropped inexplicably to make way for Darius Vassell. On his occasional appearances after that he was always played too deep to make an impact, until MH was forced to play him in a forward role because of injuries, when once again he showed exactly what he is capable of.
Rather than thinking of letting him go, MH should be thinking in terms of lessons learned, and how he can play Elano to his full potential in every game...
