Allardyce steps down

Breaking news from BBC sport:

Sam Allardyce has resigned as manager of Bolton with
immediate effect.
Allardyce has been linked with the manager's role at
Manchester City and refused to attend the press conference after Saturday's 2-2
with Chelsea.
He said: "This has been one of the hardest decisions I've ever
made but it's time for a new exciting era for Bolton under different
leadership."
Chairman Phil Gartside added: "I have reluctantly accepted the
decision. His reasons are private, we respect that."

Wow! I don't know quite what to say. I have been a supporter of Pearce, but Big Sam is the best English manager and should be the national team coach. I'd certainly take him and look forward to Europe in 2009!

Interesting move. Man City has a lot of potential and maybe Sam can get them to the top 1/3 of the EPL. I bet he will get them to play with more fire than the current side

Not too shabby, I guess you can now look forward to mid-table mediocrity as opposed to relegation uncertainty.

Interesting what anonymous has said. I totally forgot all about that dodgy stuff and it kinda ties in with his leaving for 'personal reasons'. Very odd that he left with a couple of games to go, why not wait til the end of the season?
