Hamman signs. From Bolton...

Dietmar Hamman, as expected signed a two-year deal at the club today little more than a day after becoming a Bolton player.

For their trouble, Bolton receive a transfer fee of £300,000 after the player decided that he had rushed into his decision to join Bolton (originally agreeing the deal five weeks ago) after being allowed to leave Liverpool.

Hamman, quoted on Sky Sports said:

"I had agreed to join Bolton, but I quickly realised that going to them would not be the right move for me. I told Bolton my feelings immediately and they understood my decision.
When I became aware of press reports suggesting that City were interested in me, I was excited at the prospect of joining this club and knew this is where I want to be. I am happy that the situation has been sorted quickly.
When I spoke with Stuart Pearce I immediately knew that City was the club for me. Mr Pearce is an ambitious manager, and this is an excellent club with a good squad of players.
Everything here at City is geared for the club to make progress and I want to play my part in bringing success to this football club".

Whatever the circumstances of his joining the club, I feel it is a good move by Stuart Pearce and coupled with the addition of Ousmane Dabo it does strengthen an area that was weak towards the end of last season. Hamman will not have the energy and 'legs' of many midfielders but his range of passing should be welcome in a midfield that lacked creativity on most occasions.

However, numbers wise it has only offset the loss of Riera and Musampa and hopefully Pearce will still be targeting further reinforcements as the pre-season edges ever closer.

vote it up!

I don't know about you Danny but I would of prefered Steve Sidwell to sign rather than Hamann.
