Rich man, poor man?

Our very own (for how long?) Robbie Fowler has managed to position himself in fourth position of the Football 'rich list'. According to the BBC; 'Robbie Fowler's shrewd investment in property and business ventures kept the Manchester City player fourth with a fortune of £28m'.
This little 'nest egg' he has put away to one side should ensure that he may not miss his £40,000 per week wages once his contract runs out this summer - although Stuart Pearce did not entirely rule out the possibilty of a new contract being offered. I wasn't sure if that was a motivating tactic from Pearce but one which may not be too succesful given that he is hardly playing for his financial future is he?
Apart from the obvious number one in David Beckham, Denis Bergkamp managed to position himself in second place - those one year deals at Arsenal must be more lucrative than I realised, with Michael Owen in third placed (hefty Madrid and Newcastle signing on fees?) and the usual suspects such as Keane, Shearer, Campbell, Ferdinand and Giggs also featuring.
Just as well the tradition of the testimonial is still alive to ensure footballers are set up for the harsh realities of retirement eh?

vote it up!
