Kevin Keegan : Never EVER go back

He said that Manchester City would be his last job in football and just two weeks ago ruled out a return to club management.

Mike Ashley seems to have changed his mind, and the two of them together obviously buy into the geordie myth that they are a ' big club' 'underachieving' the heart truly is ruling the head.

I don't wish KK any ill , in fact I respect his reign that brought us a brilliant championship season and established us a premiership club before the wind blew out of the sails and, I like the guy !!

One of the saddest sights in football for me was seeing him sat on the bench coat zipped halfway up his face, arms crossed completely clueless as to how tactically to put things right as the money dried up and his knowledge was called into question.

He got measured, he came up short. He wont be with the deluded army for more than a year, i am sure of it.

Kevin Keegan interview as part of the BBC 'Inside Sport' programme aired this week.

An interesting comment from it was "I mean I haven't watched a game of football, I mean live, since my last game at Manchester City and I can't even remember what game that was now."

Unfortunately for most of us Kevin, we still can.

Keegan speaks

Former manager Kevin Keegan was interviewed today in The Independent, reflecting on a wide number of topics such as his time in the England job, bemoaning the explosion of money and foreign players in the game, his time at City and his current venture/passion, Soccer Circus.

Covering his time at City, he says:

"I just see football for what it is, which is all about
money. I find it incredible that a doctor can train for eight years to earn in a
year half of what a footballer earns in a week. And the more they earn, the more
remote they get.
"I didn't close football clubs, I opened them up. These
days, training grounds are like prison camps. At Man City I let the fans in to
watch. They're the fans, they have the right. At the stadium, the players rush
straight in from the bus and when they come out they're straight back on. That's
wrong. Supporters should have the chance to get an autograph, and when they've
travelled two or three hours and seen you play badly they should have the right
to have a go at you, too."

As ever with Keegan, it is an interesting and revealing read and dedicates quite a lot of the piece to his latest venture, something which Keegan appears to have sunk most of his time, energies and money into since his departure from City.

For the doom and gloom merchants, a little ray of sunshine, the sun god himself Sun Jihai is about to return from his nine months of injury hell and save our season with his versatility (he's crap in several positions )

Whilst you wish every player not to be afflicted by injuries, City should have cut there losses two years ago on this excuse of a footballer , he never has or will be a premiership footballer.
His new contract of course came courtesy of Kevin Keegan publicly blackmailing the board with his 'deeper hearts and pockets' speech to anybody in the media who would listen, not long after he of course decided his pockets were deep enough and did one.

Apparently he sells some shirts in China.
