Hart - Being critical you could argue he should have done better for the goal, but made some smart saves. 7

Richards - Struggled particularly at right-back, being surprisingly out-paced and out-muscled oan more than one occasion. 5

Garrido - Had plenty of time and possession, but was let down (particularly in the first half) by a lack of support and options. 6

Dunne - A solid game, but distribution was lacking at times. 6

Kompany - Quality both at the back and in midfield. Probably our best player. 8

Hamman - Anonymous for the most part and failed to exert any control. Withdrawn at the half. 5

Ireland - A relative off day for the form man of the moment. 6

Wright-Phillips - Some excellent flashes of quality amidst receiving some cynical treatment. 8

Vassell - Offered little in the way of quality or creativity. 5

Robinho - Failed to shine on a day when we needed him to be big. 6

Benjani - Struggled with the lone man role but managed a couple of half chances. 6

Elano - Plenty of the ball in the deep role but couldn't carve much out. 6

Zabaleta - Steady and providing some threat on the right. 6

Sturridge - Little chance to make an impact. 6
