Bitter and Blue Player of The Year Award.

UPDATE: Last chance to vote as lines close shortly ahead of all the season review stuff I'll be posting up this coming week.....

A post game discussion on Sunday failed to produce a clear winner, and in fact left most stumped for an answer to the question 'Who will be player of the season?'.

In seasons gone by it has generally been a foregone conclusion and I think the absence of a true 'star' this season - a Bernarbia, Anelka or SWP for instance makes it a difficult decision.

With just six games left there is not much time left for any contenders to make a last push and given recent performances a few maybe doing their chances a degree of harm.

For me it probably comes down to one of five - David James, Richard Dunne, Sylvain Distin, Joey Barton or Trevor Sinclair with Distin probably edging it due the consistency he has shown throughout the whole season.

My own final choice will be revealed in the inaugral 'Bitter and Blue' end of season awards sometime soon after the Blackburn game but I thought it may be interesting to see what the 'Bitter and Blue' visitors choice is.

Feel free to post your choice and any comments and I'll re-publish the post every week between now and the end of the season to the current leader.

vote it up!

Hmm. Dunne or Distin for me. I THINK Dunne has made slightly fewer errors than Distin over the course of the season.

Dunne for me then.

Don't forget Vassell - just like City, he's chased a lot of lost causes this season !

Darius Vassell deserves a lot of respect for his first season here. What he has delivered, despite his poor Villa form and fitness record, especially considering he is playing through an injury, is a lot more than I expected. Not just as an individual but for what he has done for the team, DV gets my vote.

Vassell gets my vote over Distin because of the commitment he's shown. Distin, for all that he's a quality player, makes too many silly mistakes - and if we gave him the award, we'd have to send him off before he gave it back

It would have to be Stuart Pearce for me...
... from his technical area he's kicked more balls, made more tackles and scored more goals than the rest of the team put together!
Seriously though David James has kept us in so many games and limited the damage in so many others, it has to be him.

It`s a difficult one this season. For me it`s between James and Dunne. I`ll go for James this year, for his commitment and professionality. Hope this choise becomes easier next year or at least I`ll be picking on performances rather than personality and commitment. CTID!

Am I the only one to think it should be Andy Cole? I know he has been injured of late, but especially in the first half of the season it was a case of if he played well City played well, if Cole was up for it then Vassell benefited hugely. I think we are really missing him now.

Gotta be James for me. He's kept us in so many games... if it weren't for his 'eccentricity' he'd have a much better recognition for his talents.

Richard Dunne for me, i think he has been great all season, and stepped into the role very well when dist was suspended/injured.
other possible contenders would be Vassel or James.

Completely off topic - thanks for tuning into the show, Danny. Being American isn't much of an excuse for knowing nothing about football, but I grew up in one of the sad corners of the US without a baseball team. I missed that crucial part of development. We had the Suns, sure, but there weren't any homegrown players on it, except for maybe the guy in the gorilla suit. So, I've never been too keen on sports. I've not even seen a game here. But if I do go, it'll be a City game....

Dunne for me! Will be captain next season....Vassell Has impressed but lacks that confidence to hit the shot or take the ball further and hurt people with his pace.

I think James has done very well this season despite his critics.
