Villa 1 City 2.

Well, what a month ago was fanciful thinking and a fortnight ago a mere possibility is now very much achieveable. Following City's 2-1 victory over Villa yesterday, coupled with Middlesbrough's 1-0 victory over Spurs, it now leaves us with everything in our own hands. Put simply, if we beat Middlesbrough at home next week then, unless Spurs turn in a suprise victory by more than three goals at Blackburn then we will have qualified for the UEFA Cup next season.
It is a remarkable turnaround of fortunes since Stuart Pearce replaced Keegan, as there was still the outside threat of relegation at that point and he is an absolute shoe-in for the permanent position which should be announced immediately after the season regardless of how next Sunday finishes.
The game itself was a nervy affair once we had allowed Angel to pull one back with half an hour left, but in truth was won by two excelletn goals - the first a superb solo effort from SWP and the second a good team move which was finished off by Kiki Musampa.
So, can we do it? Various TV pundits believe we can and form and momentum are certainly behind us and any questions about the atmosphere at the new stadium should be quashed next Sunday, but a note of caution should be aired - we have yet to beat Boro in the Premiership either home or away.

vote it up!
