Injury blow for Dunne.

City hopes for a late season bid for Europe have been dealt a blow with the news that defender Richard Dunne has undergone ankle surgery and will miss the remainder of the season.
Dunne has apparantly been playing with the injury for sometime and it has been decided to have the surgery now in order to allow him to return for pre-season.
For me, this is a very strange decision bearing in mind the state of play for City with only two games remaining as theoretically, we could be out of the European reckoning this weekend if results don't go our way. If he is able to play through the pain barrier and not cause any long term damage then is mystifying why he isn't at least playing against Villa this weekend, and then against Middlesbrough the week after if need be as these are arguably now the two most crucial games of the season and you would want him to be available.
Without a shadow of a doubt he has been our best player this season (and I include SWP as well), and has improved tremendously over the last couple of seasons, making me revise my opinion of him. The partnership with Distin, in front of David James has been pretty much unbroken and is undoubtedly the reason for the more solid appearance the Blues have shown throughout this season.
I expect that Nedum Onuha, who has been playing right back over the last ten games or so will slot into the centre (his more natural position by all accounts and Danny Mills will get a recall to the starting line-up.

vote it up!
